Five 90 minute Classes
This five session course is a project-based exploration of the two stitches that are used to make any fabric in knitting: the KNIT stitch and the PURL stitch. The Beginner cowl (designed for this class) will give students an opportunity to master these two stitches before combining and manipulating them to create interesting textures; you will learn basic finishing techniques and pattern reading as well.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HOMEWORK ASSIGNED EACH WEEK. EACH CLASS WILL COVER A NEW SKILL AND COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT WILL DEPEND ON THE KNITTING YOU DO INDEPENDENTLY.
- Long tail cast on
- Slipping edge stitches
- Knit stitch
- Purl stitch
- Combining stitches to create texture
- Following a basic pattern and common abbreviations
- Understanding gauge
- Finishing techniques
For this class you will need:
- 1 ball Universal Deluxe Bulky
- US#11 Chiaogoo Patina Bamboo 9” straight needles
- Darning needles
Any supplies purchased from The Local Yarn Store for use in this class will be discounted 10%.
