This beginner series is perfect for students in middle school and high school!
Learn Crochet in this four session course for absolute beginners! The first session covers the basic stitches, as students practice tension and make a swatch. The next 3 sessions students will be applying the basics in a small project of their choice: a bandana, fingerless gloves, or a spinner decoration.
Skills introduced:
- Slip knot cast on
- Chain stitch
- Slip stitch
- Single crochet
- Double crochet
- Following a basic pattern and common abbreviations
- Understanding tension and gauge
- Finishing techniques
Materials:
3-4 skeins of Aran or Bulky weight yarn, such as Universal Worsted or Bulky Superwash, Rios, or Noventa.
US 5mm or US 6mm crochet hook
Darning needles
Scissors
Any supplies purchased from The Local Yarn Store for use in this class will be discounted 15%.
