Description

Two options to make your first sweater or try something new! Both Ramona sweaters feature top-down, seamless construction. The pullover offers 3 different body shaping options: A-line, waist-shaped or no-shaped, so you can pick the body style that you prefer! The cardigan is a bit more fitted with a crew neck and slight waist shaping. It features a fake ‘seam’ along the sides, giving the appearance of a seam as well as providing a little more structure than a typical seamless sweater.

Please note: the cardigan will require picking up stitches and knitting button bands and will therefore provide more opportunity to learn as well as a greater challenge.

Using aran/bulky-weight yarn, Ramona(s) knit up quickly so you can have a finished sweater in just a few weeks. Detailed pattern instructions make this a perfect ‘first sweater’ project for the beginner knitter.

Tuition includes one pattern - please indicate your choice when enrolling.

Skills Required:

Must know how to cast on, knit, purl, bind off and work ribbing independently. For the Pullover you should have worked at least one project in the round. Familiarity with basic increases and decreases is recommended.

Skills Acquired:

Being the boss of your gauge, raglan sweater construction, navigating a knitting pattern, placing stitches on hold/dividing body from sleeves, picking up stitches, (cardigan knitters will also learn button bands and button holes and how to apply buttons.)

Homework:

Pullover: Cast on 30 stitches  with the yarn and needles you intend to use. Join in the round and knit for 6". (You'll need to use double pointed needles or magic loop to knit the small tube.) Bind off loosely, wash and block according to the yarn care info on the ball band (as you will clean the finished garment).
Cardigan: Cast on 22 stitches with the yarn and needles you intend to use. Knit Stockinette Stitch for 6" and bind off. Do not knit a garter stitch border. Wash and block your swatch according to the yarn care instructions on the ball band (as you will clean the finished garment).
